B2799 Engine Immobiliser System Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

This DTC is output when the ECM detects errors in communication between the transponder key ECU assembly and the ECM.

This DTC is also output when an engine start is attempted while the ECU communication IDs of the transponder key ECU assembly and the ECM are different.

Before troubleshooting for this DTC, make sure that no other DTCs have been detected in the transponder key ECU assembly. If any DTCs relating to key codes have been detected in the transponder key assembly, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

Note


  • If the transponder key ECU is replaced, register key and ECU - ECM communication ID.

  • When the ECM is replaced, reregister the ECU - ECM communication ID.

PROCEDURE


  1. ECU CODE REGISTRATION


    1. Re-register the ECU communication ID between the transponder key ECU and ECM.

    1. Clear the DTC Click here.

    2. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B2799 is not output.

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the ECM and the transponder key ECU.

      OK
      Connectors are properly connected.

    NG
    OK
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (TRANSPONDER KEY ECU ASSEMBLY - ECM)


    1. A0136LHE01

      Disconnect the C30 transponder key ECU assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the B26 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C30-12 (EFII) - B26-6 (IMO) Always Below 1 Ω
      C30-13 (EFIO) - B26-39 (IMI) Always Below 1 Ω
      C30-12 (EFII) orB26-6 (IMO) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      C30-13 (EFIO) orB26-39 (IMI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

    5. Reconnect the transponder key ECU assembly connector.
