ENGINE IMMOBILISER SYSTEM HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING

Tech Tips


  • Use this procedure to troubleshoot the engine immobiliser system.

  • An intelligent tester should be used in steps 4, 5 and 7.


  1. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO WORKSHOP

  2. CUSTOMER PROBLEM ANALYSIS CHECK AND SYMPTOM CHECK

  3. CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS

  4. CHECK FOR DTCs


    1. Check for DTCs and note any codes that are output.

    2. Clear the DTCs.

    3. Recheck for DTCs. Try to prompt the DTC (SFI system and engine immobiliser system) by simulating the conditions at the time the malfunction occurred, as suggested by the DTC.


      1. If no DTCs are output, proceed to A.

      2. If any DTCs relating to the SFI system are output, proceed to B.

      3. If any DTCs relating to the engine immobiliser system are output, proceed to C.

  5. REFER TO PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE Click here


    1. When the problem corresponds to any one of the symptoms listed in the symptoms table, proceed to A

    2. When the problem is other than the symptoms listed in the table, proceed to B.
