DESCRIPTION

The indicator lamp circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly and the combination meter. DTC B1662 is set when a malfunction is detected in the indicator lamp circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

In order to prevent unexpected airbag deployment, disconnect the following connectors before inspecting parts such as wire harnesses, if the application of tester probes to the center airbag sensor assembly connector is necessary.


  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

  2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

  3. Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly.

  4. Disconnect the connectors from the steering pad.

  5. Disconnect the connector from the front passenger airbag assembly.

  6. Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt assembly LH.

  7. Disconnect the connector from the front seat outer belt assembly RH.

    Tech Tips

    Skip the following steps if side and curtain shield airbags are not fitted.

  8. Disconnect the connector from the front seat airbag assembly LH.

  9. Disconnect the connector from the front seat airbag assembly RH.

  10. Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag assembly LH.

  11. Disconnect the connector from the curtain shield airbag assembly RH.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    2. Clear any DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

    4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    5. Check the DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1662 is not output.

      Tech Tips

      DTCs other than B1662 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

  2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR


    1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor assembly and the combination meter.

      OK
      The connectors are properly connected.

  3. CHECK CONNECTOR


    1. Check that the connectors (on the center airbag sensor assembly side and combination meter side) are not damaged Click here.

      The connectors are not deformed or damaged.

  4. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (FOR OPEN)


    1. A0138L7E01

      Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly and the combination meter.

    2. Measure the resistance.

  5. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (TO GROUND)


    1. A0135SYE04

      Measure the resistance.

      C19-10 (LA) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or Higher

  6. CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (TO B+)


    1. A0135SYE04

      Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    3. Measure the voltage.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C19-10 (LA) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V

  7. CHECK CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A0138S8E02

      Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

    2. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

    3. Replace the center airbag sensor assembly Click here.

      Tech Tips

      Perform the inspection using parts from a normal vehicle when possible.

    4. Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor assembly and the combination meter.

    5. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    7. Clear any DTCs stored in the memory Click here.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.

    9. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

    10. Check for DTCs Click here.

      OK
      DTC B1662 is not output.

      Tech Tips

      DTCs other than B1662 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
