When the engine speed indicated by the ECM signal is approximately equal to zero rpm despite the engine running, one or more DTCs is set.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC


    1. Check whether the DTC for engine control computer is output.

      OK
      No DTC for engine control computer is output.

    NG
    OK
  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON, and turn the intelligent tester main switch ON.

    3. Select the item ENGINE REV in the DATA LIST and read the value displayed on the intelligent tester.

    4. Check that there is no significant difference between the engine revolution value displayed by the intelligent tester and the engine revolution value displayed by the tachometer when the engine is idling.

      OK
      There is almost no difference between the engine revolution values displayed by the intelligent tester and the tachometer and those values are greater than 400 revolutions per minute when idling.

      Tech Tips

      There is tolerance of +-10 % in the tachometer indication.
