INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3
Install the parking brake cable onto the backing plate.
Install the parking brake cable with the 3 bolts and nut.
Connect the clamp of the rear speed sensor.
Connect the parking brake cable to the equalizer with a new adjusting nut.
APPLY HIGH TEMPERATURE GREASE
Apply high temperature grease to the shoe attached surfaces of the backing plate.
INSTALL REAR BRAKE SHOE
Using needle-nose pliers, connect the parking brake cable to the parking brake shoe lever.
Using pliers, install the rear brake shoe, pin, shoe hold down spring and shoe hold down spring cup.
INSTALL ADJUSTER
Remove the adjuster screw from the strut.
Set the adjuster nut in the appropriate position by hand.
Position the adjuster nut close to the retaining screw spring with a clearance of 1 to 2 mm in between them.
Tech Tips
The adjuster nut should not be in direct contact with the retaining screw spring. Leave 1 to 2 mm of space between the two parts since the brake clearance will be adjusted automatically.
Return the adjuster screw to the adjuster strut.
Note
The adjuster nut should be fitted into the adjuster leaf spring.
Install the adjuster.
Note
Install the adjuster in the correct orientation.
INSTALL FRONT BRAKE SHOE
Using pliers, install the front brake shoe, pin, shoe hold down spring and shoe hold down spring cup.
Using SST, install the retaining shoe spring.
Using SST, install the return shoe spring.
Using SST, install the retaining strut spring.
CHECK REAR DRUM BRAKE INSTALLATION
Check that each part is installed properly.
Note
There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surfaces of the shoe lining or the drum.
INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM
Using "TORX" socket wrench T30, install the rear brake drum with the screw.
ADJUST CLEARANCE BETWEEN BRAKE SHOES AND DRUM
Note
Do not use screwdrivers or any other tools to rotate the adjuster.
Press the brake pedal 30 times (not the parking brake). The clearance between the brake shoes and drum will be adjusted automatically.
INSTALL REAR WHEEL
INSPECT PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
Slowly pull the parking brake lever to the fully applied position, counting the number of clicks.

ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
Turn the adjusting nut until the parking brake lever travel is corrected to within the specified range.

Operate the parking brake lever 3 to 4 times, and check the parking brake lever travel.
Check whether the parking brake drags or not.
When operating the parking brake lever, check that the brake warning light comes on.

INSTALL CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY REAR
Install the console box with the 2 bolts.
