BRAKE ACTUATOR ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

  1. CONNECT INTELLIGENT TESTER

    1. Connect an intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine and allow it to idle.

    3. Turn the tester ON.

    4. Perform the active test using the intelligent tester.

Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.

  2. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR MOTOR

    1. With the motor relay ON, check the actuator motor operation noise.

    2. Turn the motor relay OFF.

    3. Depress the brake pedal and hold it for approximately 15 seconds. Check that the brake pedal cannot be depressed further.

    4. With the motor relay ON, check that the pedal does not pulsate.

      Note

Do not keep the motor relay turned ON for more than 5 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.

    5. Turn the motor relay OFF and release the brake pedal.

  3. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Right Wheel)

    Note

Never turn ON a solenoid in any manner other than described below.

    1. With the brake pedal depressed, perform the following operations.

    2. Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids ON simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed further.

      Note

Do not keep the solenoid turned ON for more than 10 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.

    3. Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids OFF simultaneously, and check that the pedal can be depressed further.

    4. Turn the motor relay ON, and check that the pedal can be depressed.

      Note

Do not keep the motor relay turned ON for more than 5 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.

    5. Turn the motor relay OFF and release the brake pedal.

  4. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Front Left Wheel)

    Note

Never turn ON a solenoid in any manner other than described below.

    1. With the brake pedal depressed, perform the following operations.

    2. Turn the SFLH and SFLR solenoids ON simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed further.

      Note

Do not keep the solenoid turned ON for more than 10 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.

    3. Turn the SFLH and SFLR solenoids OFF simultaneously, and check that the pedal can be depressed further.

  5. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Right Wheel)

    Note

Never turn ON a solenoid in any manner other than described below.

    1. With the brake pedal depressed, perform the following operations.

    2. Turn the SRRH and SRRR solenoids ON simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed further.

      Note

Do not keep the solenoid turned ON for more than 10 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.

    3. Turn the SRRH and SRRR solenoids OFF simultaneously, and check that the pedal can be depressed further.

  6. INSPECT BRAKE ACTUATOR SOLENOID (for Rear Left Wheel)

    Note

Never turn ON a solenoid in any manner other than described below.

    1. With the brake pedal depressed, perform the following operations.

    2. Turn the SRLH and SRLR solenoids ON simultaneously, and check that the pedal cannot be depressed further.

      Note

Do not keep the solenoid turned ON for more than 10 seconds continuously. Allow intervals of at least 20 seconds between consecutive operations.
