DESCRIPTION

The ABS motor relay supplies power to the ABS pump motor. While the ABS is activated, the skid control ECU switches the motor relay ON and operates the ABS pump motor.

When either of following (1 or 2) detected:

1. Pump motor voltage 2.0 V or more for 1 second or more, despite skid control ECU signaling motor relay to turn OFF.

2. Pump motor power supply voltage remains below IG1 terminal voltage by 4.0 V for 0.1 seconds or more, despite skid control ECU signaling motor relay to turn ON.

  • ABS No. 1 fuse

  • Wire harness (+BM circuit)

  • Brake actuator

Tech Tips

C0273/13: The skid control ECU begins to detect this DTC when the vehicle speed exceeds 5 km/h (3mph).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FUSE (ABS NO. 1)


    1. A0137HYE02

      Remove the ABS NO. 1 fuse from the engine room R/B and J/B.

    2. Measure the resistance.

      Standard Resistance
      Below 1 Ω

    NG

    CHECK FOR SHORT IN ALL HARNESSES AND CONNECTORS CONNECTED TO FUSE AND REPLACE FUSE

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BATTERY - SKID CONTROL ECU - BODY GROUND)


    1. Confirm that there are no defects in the skid control ECU connector fitting.

    2. Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    3. Inspect both the connector case and the terminal for deformation and corrosion.

      OK
      No deformation or corrosion.
    4. A0135VYE08

      Measure the voltage.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A21-2 (+BM) - Body ground 10 to 14 V

    5. Measure the resistance.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      A21-4 (GND1) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      A21-1 (GND2) - Body ground Below 1 Ω

    NG

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    OK

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST BY INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    5. Perform the active test using the intelligent tester.

      Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Active Test.

    6. Check the operation sound of the ABS motor individually when operating it with the intelligent tester.

  4. RECONFIRM DTC


    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and then drive the vehicle at 5 km/h (3mph) or more to activate initial check.

    3. Check if the same DTC is output.
