DTC No. DTC Detecting Conditions Trouble Areas

C0210/33

C0215/34

When either of following (1 or 2) detected:

1. Even during normal driving, speed signal indicates rapid acceleration/deceleration for 20 seconds or more with brake pedal depressed, or for 5 seconds or more without brake pedal depressed.

2. Wheel speed of 0 km/h detected when vehicle speed has reached 12 km/h (7 mph) after starting vehicle.

  • Rear speed sensor

  • Rear speed sensor circuit

  • Sensor installation

  • Foreign matter on sensor rotor

Tech Tips

  • DTC C0210/33 and C1332/38 relate to the rear speed sensor RH.

  • DTC C0215/34 and C1333/39 relate to the rear speed sensor LH.

  • C0210/33, C0215/34: The skid control ECU monitors the malfunctions when the vehicle has been driven at 20 km/h (12 mph) or more for at least 30 seconds.

  • C1332/38, C1333/39: The skid control ECU completes the malfunction monitoring process when the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h (12 mph).

When DTC C0210/33 or C0215/34 has been set, DTCs C1332/38 and C1333/39 are not indicated even if an open malfunction has been detected in the corresponding speed sensor circuit. Therefore, it is necessary for DTC C0210/33 and C0215/34 to be cleared from the skid control ECU to check whether DTCs C1332/38 or C1333/39 have been set. In order to check for those DTCs, conduct the following procedures before driving the vehicle:

    1. Clear stored DTCs using an intelligent tester.

    2. Turn the ignition switch off and then on again.

    3. Start the engine.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Start the inspection from step 3 when only DTCs C1332/38 and/or C1333/39 are detected.

Note

Check the speed sensor signal in test mode after cleaning or replacement Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (REAR SPEED SENSOR)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Start the engine and drive the vehicle.

    3. Turn the tester ON.

    4. Read the wheel speed value using the intelligent tester.

Select the following menu items: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRC / Data List.

    5. Select the item "RR (RL) Wheel Speed" in the DATA LIST and read the value displayed on the intelligent tester.

Item Measurement Item : Range (Display) Normal Condition
RR Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (RR) reading : min.: 0 km/h (0 MPH), max.: 326 km/h (202 MPH) Similar to speed indicated on speedometer
RL Wheel Speed Wheel speed sensor (RL) reading : min.: 0 km/h (0 MPH), max.: 326 km/h (202 MPH) Similar to speed indicated on speedometer
    6. Check that there is no significant difference between the speed value output from the speed sensor displayed on the intelligent tester and the speed value displayed on the speedometer when driving the vehicle.

      OK
There is almost no difference in the displayed speed values.

      Tech Tips

There is a tolerance of +- 10% in the speedometer indication.

    OK
