ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST

  1. DATA LIST

    Tech Tips

By referring to the DATA LIST displayed on the intelligent tester, the value and status of parts such as switches, sensors and actuators can be read without removing any parts. Reading the DATA LIST as the first step of troubleshooting is one method of shortening diagnostic time.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    4. From the display on the tester, read the DATA LIST.

      • *8: SRLH (S: Solenoid, R: Rear, L: Left, H: Holding)

      • *9: The Vehicle Speed is the average of the Wheel Speeds of the drive wheels.

If the wheel speeds cannot be obtained from the drive wheels (front wheels), the vehicle speed is calculated from the wheel speeds of the rear wheels.

  2. ACTIVE TEST

    Tech Tips

Performing the ACTIVE TEST using the intelligent tester allows parts such as relays and actuators to be operated without removing any parts. Performing the ACTIVE TEST as the first step of troubleshooting is one method of shortening diagnostic time.

It is possible to display the DATA LIST during the ACTIVE TEST.

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

    3. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    4. According to the display on the tester, perform the ACTIVE TEST.

      Tech Tips

      • The ignition switch must be turned to the ON position to proceed to the ACTIVE TEST using the intelligent tester.

      • ACTIVE TEST of ABS solenoid, ABS motor relay, ABS warning light and brake warning light are available when the vehicle is stopped.

      • Do not run the motors for more than 5 seconds to prevent them from being damaged. In addition, avoid driving the motors in intermittent operations with breaks lasting only a few seconds.

      • Drive to each solenoid is automatically prohibited after approximately 2 seconds in order to protect the solenoids, but allowed again after a certain interval.

      • Do not depress the brake pedal while only the pressure reduction solenoid valves are on.

      • Do not drive two or more of the solenoids simultaneously except to operate the pressure holding solenoid valves and pressure reduction solenoid valves of each wheel.
