MULTI-MODE MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM Park / Neutral Position Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The park/neutral position switch detects the transmission gear Neutral position and sends a signal to the transmission control ECU. Based on the signal, the ECU detects the Neutral gear position. The engine starts when the ignition switch is turned to the ST position with the brake pedal depressed and the transmission gear in neutral.

    A0136IKE03

    1. Disconnect the transmission control ECU connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Confirm that the shift lever is in the N position.

    4. Measure the voltage between the terminal of transmission control ECU and the body ground when the ignition switch is turned to the ST position.

      Standard Voltage
Tester Connections Shift Lever Position Specified Conditions
      TMN (A28-3) - Body ground N 10 to 14 V
    5. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and reconnect the transmission control ECU connector.

    6. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    7. Change the shift lever position to any position other than the N position while depressing the brake pedal.

    8. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and disconnect the transmission control ECU connector.

    9. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    10. Measure the voltage between the terminal of transmission control ECU and the body ground when the ignition switch is turned to the ST position.

      Standard Voltage
Tester Connections Shift Lever Position Specified Conditions
      TMN (A28-3) - Body ground Other than N Below 1 V
    11. Reconnect the transmission control ECU connector.
