MULTI-MODE MANUAL TRANSAXLE SYSTEM CALIBRATION

  1. SYNCHRONIZATION POSITION CALIBRATION

For smoother shifting, the transmission control ECU learns the synchronization position of the transmission gears. Perform the synchronization position calibration of the multi-mode manual transmission while driving the vehicle after repairing system components.

    Tech Tips

When replacing the following parts, proceed with the operation in the order listed in the table below.

Parts installed Operation order See procedure

    • Transmission assembly

    • Transmission parts (inside gear box)

    • Shift and select actuator (with clutch actuator)

    • Shift stroke sensor

    • Select stroke sensor

    • Transmission control ECU

    1. While driving the vehicle with M-mode, shift up and down between 1st and 5th at the vehicle speeds specified below.

    2. Check that the gears shift smoothly.

      Recommended Gear Shifting Speeds
Gear Change Gear Position Vehicle Speed
      Up shift 1st→2nd 25 to 45 km/h (15.5 to 27.9 mph)
      2nd→3rd 46 to 85 km/h (28.5 to 52.8 mph)
      3rd→4th 67 to 125 km/h (41.6 to 77.6 mph)
      4th→5th 85 to 150 km/h (52.8 to 93.2 mph)
      Down shift 2nd→1st 25 to 40 km/h (15.5 to 24.8 mph)

      Tech Tips

      • Leave an interval of more than 2 seconds between gear changes.

      • If there is a shock when changing gears after the synchronization position calibration, perform the synchronization position calibration again.
