SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL SELECT LEVER SHAFT OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new select lever shaft oil seal with MP grease.

    2. A0135X1E02

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the select lever shaft oil seal to the control shaft cover.

      09950-70010   ( 09951-07100 )
      Standard depth
      2.0 to 2.5 mm (0.0788 to 0.0984 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the lip of the select lever shaft oil seal.

  2. INSTALL CONTROL SHAFT COVER OIL SEAL


    1. Coat the lip of a new control shaft cover oil seal with MP grease.

    2. A0137IDE02

      Using SST and a hammer, tap in the control shaft cover oil seal to the control shaft cover.

      09950-60010   ( 09951-00280 )
      09950-70010   ( 09951-07100 )
      Standard depth
      0 to 0.5 mm (0 to 0.0196 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the lip of the control shaft cover oil seal.

  3. INSTALL SHIFT AND SELECT LEVER SHAFT


    1. A0136T9

      Apply MP grease to the contact surface of the shift lever boot and install the shift lever boot to the shift and select lever shaft.

    2. Apply MP grease to the contact surfaces of the control shaft cover and the shift and select lever shaft.

    3. Install the shift and select lever shaft with the shift lever boot to the control shaft cover.

      Using a screwdriver and a hammer, install a new snap ring to the shift and select lever shaft.

      Tech Tips

      Lifting the control shaft cover up with a piece of rope or equivalent makes installation easier.

  4. INSTALL INNER SELECT LEVER

      Install the inner select lever to the control shaft cover.

  5. INSTALL SELECT LEVER SHAFT


    1. Apply MP grease to the contact surfaces of the control shaft cover and the select lever shaft.

    2. A0136IME01

      Install the select lever shaft to the control shaft cover and pass the select lever shaft through the inner select lever.

      Note

      Fit the edge of the inner select lever into the groove of the shift and select lever shaft, as shown in the illustration.

    3. Coat the threads of the bolt with adhesive, and install it to the inner select lever.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent
      Torque:
      38 N*m  { 387 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL NO. 2 SELECT SPRING SEAT

      Apply MP grease to the inner surface of the No. 2 select spring seat and the shift and select lever shaft, and then install the No. 2 select spring seat to the shift and select lever shaft.

  7. INSTALL SELECT RETURN COMPRESSION SPRING

      Install the select return compression spring to the shift and select lever shaft.

  8. INSTALL INNER NO. 1 SHIFT LEVER

      Apply MP grease to the contact surfaces of the shift interlock plate and the shift and select lever shaft.

    2. Install the inner No. 1 shift lever and the shift interlock plate to the shift and select lever shaft.

      While pushing up the inner No. 1 shift lever so that the hole in the inner lever aligns with the hole in the shift and select lever shaft, insert a pin punch half way into the inner lever, and using the other pin punch and a hammer, tap in the slotted spring pin. When the inner No. 1 shift lever is fixed with the slotted spring pin, pull out the pin punch while holding the inner lever.

      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0196 to 0.0196 in.)

      Using a screwdriver and a hammer, install a new snap ring to the shift and select lever shaft.
