CLUTCH UNIT (for C551) REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE MANUAL TRANSAXLE ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE RELEASE FORK RETRACTING SPRING HANGER

      Remove the bolt and the release fork retracting spring hanger from the clutch release fork lever.

  3. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE BEARING ASSEMBLY

      Remove the clip from the clutch release bearing assembly.

    2. Remove the clutch release bearing assembly from the clutch release fork.

  4. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE FORK LEVER

      Separate the release fork torsion spring from the clutch release fork.

      Using 2 screwdrivers and a hammer, tap the E-ring out.

      Pull the clutch release fork lever out of the transaxle case to remove the clutch release fork, and then remove the release fork torsion spring stopper and the release fork torsion spring.

  5. REMOVE CLUTCH RELEASE FORK LEVER SHAFT OIL SEAL

      Using a screwdriver, remove the clutch release fork lever shaft oil seal from the transaxle case.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 CLUTCH HOUSING COVER

      Remove the No. 1 clutch housing cover from the transaxle case.

  7. REMOVE CLUTCH COVER ASSEMBLY

      Place matchmarks on the clutch cover assembly and the flywheel sub-assembly.

    2. Loosen each bolt by one turn at a time until the spring tension is released.

    3. Remove the 6 bolts, and pull off the clutch cover assembly with the clutch disc assembly.

      Note


      • Do not drop the clutch disc assembly.

      • When replacing the clutch disc assembly, be sure to replace it together with the clutch cover assembly as a set.

  8. REMOVE CLUTCH DISC ASSEMBLY

    Note

    Do not attach any oil or foreign matter to the lining part of the clutch disc assembly or the surfaces of the pressure plate and flywheel sub-assembly.
