LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

    1. A0138XSE01

Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low level mark and full level mark.

If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

Do not fill with engine oil above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY

    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.

      Oil grade
API grade SL, Energy-Conserving or ILSAC multigrade engine oil is recommended. SAE 0W-20 is the best choice for your vehicle for good fuel economy and good starting in cold weather.
  3. CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE

    1. Disconnect the engine oil pressure switch connector.

    2. A0138KG

Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the engine oil pressure switch.

    3. A0136UC

Install the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    4. Warm up the engine.

    5. Check the engine oil pressure.

      Specification
      Engine rpm Oil pressure
      750 rpm

      30 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.3 psi) or more

      3,000 rpm

      200 kpa (2.0 kgf/cm2, 28.4 psi) or more

If the oil pressure is not as specified, repair the lubrication system.

    6. Remove the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    7. A0137AQE01

Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

      Adhesive
Part No.08833-00080, TREE BOND 1334, LOCTITE 242 or equivalent
    8. A0138KG

Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch.

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note

Do not start the engine within 1 hour after installation.

    9. Connect the engine oil pressure switch connector.

    10. Inspect for engine oil leak.
