STARTER (for Standard) REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL STARTER CLUTCH SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A0138ZZE01

      Apply MP grease to the spline of the starter clutch and the starter armature.

    2. A0138P4E01

      Align the protrusion of the starter clutch and the cutout of the starter armature and install the starter clutch.

    3. Move the protrusion of the starter clutch into the groove of the starter armature.

    4. A0138IWE01

      Using a screwdriver, install the snap ring on the core of the armature.

    5. A01365YE01

      Slide the clutch to fit the snap ring into the groove.

      Note

      Make sure that the snap ring is securely installed in the groove.

    6. A013884E01

      Install the bearing to the starter armature.

    7. Install the washer to the starter drive housing.

  2. INSTALL STARTER ARMATURE ASSEMBLY


    1. A0138UNE01

      Apply MP grease to the pinion drive lever.

    2. Install the starter armature, pinion drive lever and starter drive housing cover to the starter drive housing.

  3. INSTALL STARTER YOKE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01388UE01

      Align the matchmarks on the starter yoke and starter drive housing.

    2. Install the starter yoke to the starter drive housing.

  4. INSTALL STARTER BRUSH HOLDER ASSEMBLY


    1. A0138OLE01

      Align the matchmarks on the starter brush holder and starter yoke.

    2. Install the starter yoke to the starter drive housing.

    3. A0137IJE01

      Hold the starter yoke in a vise with aluminum plates in between.

      Note

      Do not overtighten the vise.

    4. Apply MP grease to the spring.

    5. Install the 4 starter brush holder springs to the starter brush holder.

      Note

      Be careful not to allow the springs to fly out.

      Install the starter brush holder plate to the starter brush holder.

  5. INSTALL STARTER COMMUTATOR END FRAME ASSEMBLY


    1. A0135XC

      Install the starter commutator end frame and the starter yoke with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      6.4 N*m  { 65 kgf*cm, 57 in.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL MAGNET STARTER SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A0135UU

      Install the return spring to the magnet starter switch.


      1. Install the magnet starter switch to the starter drive housing.

    2. Using a "torx" socket wrench (T20), install the 2 screws.

      Torque:
      3.8 N*m  { 38 kgf*cm, 33 in.*lbf }
    3. A0138SD

      Connect the lead wire to the terminal with the nut.

      Torque:
      9.5 N*m  { 97 kgf*cm, 84 in.*lbf }
