DTC Code DTC Name
P0191 Common Rail Pressure Sensor Gradient of Common Rail Pressure Too High
P0192 Short to GND in Common Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
P0193 Open or Short to B+ in Common Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit
P1164 Common Rail Pressure Sensor Offset, PCV Controller in Open Loop
P1165 Common Rail Pressure Sensor Inconsistency between Rail Pressure and PCV Current

DESCRIPTION

The fuel pressure sensor detects the fuel pressure in the common rail, and outputs the signal to the ECM. Based on this signal, the ECM operates the PCV and VSV to control the fuel pressure in the common rail. (The fuel pressure in the common rail should be between 22 and 160 Mpa (220 and 1600 bars, 3,191 and 23,205 psi.)).

CAUTION:

  • Do not use an ohmmeter to check the fuel pressure sensor. Otherwise, the sensor may be broken.

  • The pressure in the fuel system can be too high (160 Mpa (1,600 bars, 23,205 psi)). Do not expose your eyes, hands and body to the leaked fuel.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • When DTC P0191, P0192, P0193, P1164 or P0115 is detected, check the fuel pressure by selecting the following menu items on the intelligent tester: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Comn Rail Pres.

  • If the ECM is replaced, variant coding (variant coding indicates the presence of vehicle accessory items, A/C, etc.) should always be performed Click here.

  • Before removing the ECM and the peripheral parts, wait at least 3 minute after turning the ignition switch off (If the cooling fan is operating, remove the ECM and the peripheral parts after the fan stops.).

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (FUEL PRESSURE)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Clear the DTC Click here.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Comn Rail Pres.

    6. Read the value.
