ECD SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P0069, P0235

DTC Code DTC Name
P0069 MAP Sensor Too High or Too Low
P0235 MAP Sensor Too High or Too Low at Idle Speed

DESCRIPTION

The turbo pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure by using the built-in sensor unit. The ECM determines the basic injection duration and injection advance timing based on the voltage output from the turbo pressure sensor. And also the ECM controls the throttle valve (for EGR) operation by the turbo pressure sensor.

Ignition Switch Engine Run
P0069

When ignition switch is ON, either the following condition (a) or (b) is met:

(a) Difference calculated by subtracting atmospheric pressure sensor output from turbo pressure sensor output exceeds 20 kPa (200 mbars, 2.9 psi).

(b) Difference calculated by subtracting turbo pressure sensor output from atmospheric pressure sensor output exceeds 20 kPa (200 mbars, 2.9 psi).

P0235

When idling, either the following condition (a) or (b) is met:

(a) Atmospheric pressure sensor output multiplied by 1.2 is below turbo pressure sensor output.

(b) Atmospheric pressure sensor output multiplied by 0.8 exceeds turbo pressure sensor output.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • When DTC P0069 or P0235 is detected, check the MAP by selecting the following menu items on the intelligent tester: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / MAP.

  • When DTC P0069 or P0235 is detected, check the atmospheric pressure by selecting the following menu items on the intelligent tester: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Atm Pressure.

  • If the ECM is replaced, variant coding (variant coding indicates the presence of vehicle accessory items, A/C, etc.) should always be performed Click here.

  • Before removing the ECM and the peripheral parts, wait at least 3 minute after turning the ignition switch off (If the cooling fan is operating, remove the ECM and the peripheral parts after the fan stops.).

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (OTHER THAN DTC P0069 AND/OR P235)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and turn the intelligent tester on.

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    4. Read the DTCs.

      Tech Tips

If codes other than P0069 and P0235 are output, perform troubleshooting for those DTCs first.
