ECD SYSTEM PRECAUTION

Note

Never use high pressure water under the hood to clean the engine area, etc.

  1. Precautions for replacing the battery

    1. Do not disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal while the cooling fan is operating.

    2. Before removing the battery, wait at least 3 minutes after turning the ignition switch OFF.

      Note

If the cable is disconnected with the ignition switch ON or if the battery runs out, DTCs P1113 and P1198 will be stored in the ECM. If the DTCs are stored, clear the codes. Click here

  2. Precautions for replacing the ECM

    1. Before removing the ECM and the peripheral parts, wait at least 3 minute after turning the ignition switch OFF (If the cooling fan is operating, remove the ECM and the peripheral parts after the fan stops.).

    2. After the ECM is replaced, variant coding (variant coding indicates the presence of vehicle accessory items, A/C, etc.) should always be performed. Click here

      Tech Tips

If variant coding is not completed, DTC P1613 will be output.

  3. Precautions for the parts related to the fuel system

    1. The pressure in the fuel system can be very high (160 MPa (1,600 bars, 23,205 psi)). Take care that your eyes, hand and body are not exposed to fuel that escapes in case of a leak.

    2. When replacing the injector, the injector pipe and copper injector nozzle seat must be replaced together.

    3. Never short the injector terminals to the engine ground or between the terminals.
