THROTTLE BODY INSPECTION

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

    1. A0136L9E01

Check that the throttle valve shaft does not rattle.

    2. Check that each port is not clogged.

    3. Check that the throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.

    4. Check that there is no clearance between the throttle stop screw and throttle lever when the throttle valve is fully closed.

      Note

Do not adjust the throttle stop screw.

    5. A01383ZE01

      Inspect the throttle position sensor.

      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

        Resistance
        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        1 (VC) - 2 (E2) 2.5 to 5.0 kΩ at 25°C (77°F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.

      2. Check the resistance change when the throttle lever is fully closed and opened.

        Resistance
        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        3 (VTA) - 2 (E2) 0.2 to 0.9 kΩ (fully close)
        3 (VTA) - 2 (E2) 1.85 to 4.22 kΩ (fully open)

        Tech Tips

The resistance increases in proportion to the angle of the throttle lever.

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.

    6. A01390IE01

      Inspect the ISCV.

      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

        Resistance
        Tester Connection Specified Condition

        1 - 3

        2 - 4

        39 to 65 Ω

        1 - 2

        1 - 4

        2 - 3

        3 - 4

        10 kΩ or higher

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the throttle body assembly.
