SFI SYSTEM (w/o Electronic Throttle Control System), Diagnostic DTC:P0107, P0108

DTC Code DTC Name
P0107 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input
P0108 Manifold Absolute Pressure / Barometric Pressure Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

By a built-in sensor unit, the manifold absolute pressure sensor detects the intake manifold pressure as a voltage. The ECM then determines the basic injection duration and basic ignition advance angle based on this voltage.

DTC No. DTC Detecting Condition Trouble Area
P0107 The output voltage from the vacuum sensor remains 0.1 V or less for 2 seconds or more. (1 trip detection logic)
  • Open or short in manifold absolute pressure sensor circuit

  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor

  • ECM

P0108 The output voltage from the vacuum sensor remains 4.9 V or more for 2 seconds or more. (1 trip detection logic)
  • Open or short in manifold absolute pressure sensor circuit

  • Manifold absolute pressure sensor

  • ECM

Tech Tips

  • DTC P0107 and P0108 are detected when the ignition switch is in the ON position for approximately 10 seconds.

  • After confirming DTC P0107 or P0108, use the intelligent tester to confirm the vacuum from the Data List.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE OF MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the intelligent tester ON.

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / PIM.

    4. Read the PIM value at idling and 2,000 rpm.

      Standard
Ignition switch ON (do not start engine)
      50 to 115 kPa

    OK
    NG
  2. CHECK TERMINAL VOLTAGE (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR)

    1. A0136SEE02

Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Measure the voltage between terminals VC (2) and E2 (3) of the vacuum sensor.

      Standard voltage
      4.5 to 5.5 V

    NG
    OK
  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR - ECM)

    1. A0138YHE01

Disconnect the manifold absolute pressure sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance.

      Standard (check for open)
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      VC (3) - VC2 (B25-9) Below 1 Ω
      E2 (2) - E21 (B25-20) Below 1 Ω
      PIM (1) - PIM (B25-81) Below 1 Ω
      Standard (check for short)
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
VC (2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
PIM (1) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG
    OK
  4. REPLACE MANIFOLD ABSOLUTE PRESSURE SENSOR

    NEXT
  5. CHECK IF DTC OUTPUT RECURS (P0107 OR P0108)

    1. Clear DTC using the intelligent tester.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and wait for 10 seconds.

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

    4. Read DTCs.

      Standard
      No DTC output.

    OK
    NG
