СИСТЕМА ECD, Diagnostic DTC:23

DTC Code DTC Name
23 Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The intake air temperature sensor senses the intake air temperature. A thermistor built in this sensor changes the resistance value according to the intake air temperature as shown in the illustration. This resistance value of intake air temperature sensor is one of the factors to decide the fuel injection volume.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

  • If different DTCs that are related to different systems are output simultaneously while terminal E2 is used as a ground terminal, terminal E2 may be open.

  • Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.

When using intelligent tester:

PROCEDURE

  1. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Select the item "Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Data List/Intake Air" and read its value displayed on the intelligent tester.

      Result
      Display Proceed
      - 40°C (- 40°F) A
      140°C (284°F) or more B
The same as actual engine coolant temperature C

      Tech Tips

When DTC 23 is present, check the intake air temperature by selecting "Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Data List/Intake Air" on the intelligent tester.
