DIFFERENTIAL CASE DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL RING GEAR


    1. A017EMJE03

      Place matchmarks on the ring gear and differential case.

    2. A017FY8E02

      Remove the 16 bolts.

    3. A017CLYE02

      Using a plastic hammer, tap the ring gear to remove it from the case.

  2. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL SIDE GEAR


    1. A017B60E02

      Remove the differential LH case from the differential case assembly.

    2. A017C45E04

      Remove the No. 2 differential case from the differential case LH.

    3. A017ESHE03

      Remove the front differential side gear, front differential side gear thrust washer, conical spring, and No. 2 center differential side gear thrust washer from the differential case LH.

    4. A017D6ME01

      Using a snap ring expander, remove the pinion shaft spacer snap ring.

    5. A017E2OE01

      Using a pin punch and hammer, remove the 3 straight pins.

    6. A017FOCE01

      Remove the center differential pinion shaft and 2 differential pinion shafts.

    7. A017CTTE01

      Remove the 4 front differential pinions, 4 front differential pinion thrust washers, front differential pinion shaft holder, front differential side gear, and front differential side gear thrust washer.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING


    1. A017FPHE05

      Using SST, remove the front differential case rear tapered roller bearing from the differential case.

      Using SST, remove the front differential case rear tapered roller bearing outer race and differential case washer.

      Note


      • When replacing the bearing, be sure to replace both outer and inner races.

      • When replacing the bearing, be sure to replace both left and right bearings as a set.

  4. REMOVE CENTER DIFFERENTIAL PINION


    1. A017CSHE01

      Using a "TORX" socket (T50), remove the 15 bolts.

    2. A017C6BE02

      Place matchmarks on the differential intermediate case and differential case.

    3. Remove the differential intermediate case from the differential case RH.

    4. A017BQSE02

      Remove the center differential side gear, conical spring washer, and No. 1 center differential side gear thrust washer RH from the differential case RH.

    5. A017C33E01

      Remove the differential spider, 5 center differential pinions, and 5 center differential pinion thrust washers from the differential intermediate case.

  5. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE FRONT TAPERED ROLLER BEARING

      Using SST, remove the front differential case front tapered roller bearing from the differential case.

      Using SST, remove the front differential case front tapered roller bearing outer race and differential case washer.

  6. REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the oil seal.

  7. REMOVE DIFFERENTIAL SIDE BEARING RETAINER OIL SEAL

      Using SST, remove the oil seal.
