LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up the engine, stop it and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low level mark and full level mark.

      If the engine oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

      Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL


    1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

      If the condition is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and engine oil filter.

  3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL RH (for 4WD)

  4. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)


    1. A017FPR

      Remove the 2 bolts and engine under cover assembly RR.

    2. A017FXN

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 screws, 5 clips and engine under cover assembly.

  5. DISCONNECT FRONT FENDER LINER RH (for 4WD)

  6. REMOVE FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for 4WD)

      Remove the 2 bolts, clip and front fender apron seal RH.

  7. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. A017EFNE01

      Disconnect the wiring harness protector. (w/ oil cooler)

    2. Disconnect the oil pressure switch assembly connector.

    3. A017BB8

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch assembly. (w/o oil cooler)

    4. A017G29

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch assembly. (w/ oil cooler)

    5. A017G5CE02

      Install the oil pressure gauge with adapter.

    6. Warm up the engine.

    7. Check the oil pressure.

      Standard oil pressure
      Engine Condition Oil Pressure
      Idle

      80 kPa (0.8 kgf/cm2, 11.6 psi) or more

      3000 rpm

      380 kPa (3.9 kgf/cm2, 55.1 psi) or more

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    8. A017BFCE21

      Remove the oil pressure gauge.

    9. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch assembly.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
    10. A017BB8

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch assembly. (w/o oil cooler)

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine within 1 hour after installation.

    11. A017G29

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch assembly. (w/ oil cooler)

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine within 1 hour after installation.

    12. Connect the oil pressure switch assembly connector.

      Connect the wiring harness protector. (w/ oil cooler)

    14. Start the engine.

    15. Check for engine oil leaks from the oil pressure switch assembly.

  8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON SEAL RH (for 4WD)


    1. A017FOB

      Install the front fender apron seal RH with the 2 bolts and clip.

  9. INSTALL FRONT FENDER LINER RH (for 4WD)

  10. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)


    1. A017FXN

      Install the engine under cover assembly with the 2 bolts, 2 screws and 5 clips.

    2. A017FPR

      Install the engine under cover assembly RR with the 2 bolts.

  11. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH (for 4WD)

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
