VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM VSC OFF Indicator Light Remains ON

DESCRIPTION

The skid control ECU is connected to the combination meter via CAN communication.

Pressing the VSC OFF switch turns off traction control and pressing and holding this switch turns off traction and VSC controls. If VSC control is turned off, the VSC OFF indicator indicator light will come on.

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM


    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output Click here.

      Result

  2. CHECK IF SKID CONTROL ECU CONNECTOR IS SECURELY CONNECTED


    1. Check if the skid control ECU connector is securely connected.

      OK
      The connector is securely connected.

    NG

    CONNECT CONNECTOR TO ECU CORRECTLY

    OK

  3. CHECK BATTERY


    1. Check the battery voltage.

      Standard voltage
      11 to 14 V

    NG

    CHECK OR REPLACE CHARGING SYSTEM OR BATTERY (for 2GR-FE) Click here

  4. READ VALUE ON INTELLIGENT TESTER (VSC OFF SWITCH)


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch on (IG).

    3. Select the Data List mode on the intelligent tester Click here.

      ABS / VSC / TRC:
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      TRC/VSC Off Mode VSC OFF switch / Normal, TRC OFF, Unknown or VSC OFF

      Normal: Normal

      TRC OFF: TRC off mode

      Unknown: Unspecified

      VSC OFF: VSC off mode

    4. Using the intelligent tester, check the switch condition on the intelligent tester changes according to VSC OFF switch operation.

      OK
      The intelligent tester display changes according to VSC OFF switch operation.

  5. INSPECT COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Perform the Active Test of the combination meter (meter CPU) using the intelligent tester Click here.

    3. Check the combination meter.

      OK
      The VSC OFF indicator light turns on or off in accordance with the intelligent tester operation.

  6. INSPECT VSC OFF SWITCH


    1. A017F03E01

      Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Disconnect the VSC OFF switch connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      9 (+) - 6 (E) Switch is pushed in Below 1 Ω
      9 (+) - 6 (E) Switch is not pushed in 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - VSC OFF SWITCH)

      Disconnect the skid control ECU connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A24-30 (CSW) - D58-9 (+) Always Below 1 Ω
      A24-30 (CSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D58-6 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
