INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY
Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.
Note
If it is not in the neutral position, the pin of the turn signal switch may snap.
Engage the 3 claws and install the spiral cable with steering sensor.
Note
When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel assembly.
Connect the connectors to the spiral cable with steering sensor.
Note
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER UPPER
INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER
Engage the 3 claws to install the steering column cover upper and lower with the 2 "torx" screws.
CENTER SPIRAL CABLE
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.
CAUTION:
After removing the terminal, wait for at least 90 seconds before starting the operation.
Rotate the spiral cable with steering sensor counterclockwise slowly by hand until it feels firm.
Note
Do not turn the spiral cable with steering sensor by the airbag wire harness.
Rotate the spiral cable with steering sensor clockwise approximately 2.5 turns to align the marks.
Note
Do not turn the spiral cable with steering sensor by the airbag wire harness.
Tech Tips
The spiral cable with steering sensor will rotate approximately 2.5 turns to both the left and right from the center.
INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY
w/o AIRBAG:
Position the horn contact plate so that the projecting parts are as shown the illustration.
Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and the steering column assembly.
Install the nut.
Connect the connectors.
INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT
INSTALL STEERING PAD
Support the steering pad with one hand.
Connect the connector to the steering pad.
Note
When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
Connect the horn connector.
Confirm that the circumference groove of the "torx" screw fits in the screw case, and place the steering pad onto the steering wheel assembly.
Using a "torx" socket wrench (T30), tighten the 2 "torx" screws.
INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.3
Install the steering wheel cover lower No.3.
INSTALL STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO.2
Install the steering wheel cover lower No.2.
CONNECT CABLE TO BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
INSPECT SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT
PERFORM INITIALIZATION
