VANE PUMP (for TR Series Engine) REASSEMBLY

Note

When installing, coat the parts indicated by arrows with power steering fluid Click here.

INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING OIL SEAL
1. Coat a new vane pump housing oil seal lip with power steering fluid.
2. Using SST and a press, install the vane pump housing oil seal.

  Note
  
  Make sure that the housing oil seal is installed in the correct direction as shown as in the illustration.
INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT WITH PULLEY
1. Coat the bushing surface of the front housing with power steering fluid.
2. Wrap the serration of the vane pump shaft with protective tape.
3. Gradually insert the vane pump shaft with pulley.
  
  Note
  
  Do not damage the vane pump housing oil seal lip in the front vane pump housing.
INSTALL FRONT VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE
1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it into the front vane pump housing.
2. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the front vane pump side plate.
3. Align the dent of the front vane pump side plate with that of the front vane pump housing, and install the front vane pump side plate.
  
  Note
  
  Make sure that the front vane pump side plate is installed in the correct direction as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL VANE PUMP CAM RING
1. Align the dent of the vane pump cam ring with that of the front vane pump side plate, and install the vane pump cam ring with the inscribed mark facing upward.
  
  Note
  
  Make sure that the cam ring is installed in the correct direction.
INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR
1. Coat the vane pump rotor with power steering fluid.
2. Install the vane pump rotor.
  
  Tech Tips
  
  The vane pump rotor has no specific direction.
3. Coat all 10 vane pump plates with power steering fluid.
4. Install the vane pump plates with the round end facing outward.
  
  Note
  
  Make sure that the vane pump plates is installed in the correct direction.
INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT SNAP RING
1. Using a screwdriver and a snap ring expander, install the vane pump shaft snap ring to the vane pump shaft.
INSTALL REAR VANE PUMP HOUSING
1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the rear vane pump housing.
2. Align the straight pin of the rear vane pump housing with the dents of the vane pump cam ring, front vane pump side plate and the front vane pump housing, and install the rear vane pump housing with the 4 bolts.
  
  Torque:
  
  22 N*m { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

INSPECT TOTAL PRELOAD

Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.

Temporarily install the service bolt.

Recommended service bolt
Thread diameter
10 mm (0.39 in.)
Thread pitch
1.25 mm (0.0492 in.)
Bolt length
50 mm (1.97 in.)

Using a torque wrench, check the rotating torque.

Rotating torque

0.27 N*m (2.8 kgf*cm , 2.4 in.*lbf) or less

If rotating torque is not as specified, check the installation condition of each part.

INSTALL POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH
1. Install the oil pressure switch onto the vane pump assembly.
  
  Torque:
  
  21 N*m { 214 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }
INSTALL FLOW CONTROL VALVE
1. Coat the compression spring and the flow control valve with power steering fluid.
2. Install the compression spring and the flow control valve.
3. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the pressure port union.
4. Install the pressure port union to the front vane pump housing.
  
  Torque:
  
  69 N*m { 704 kgf*cm, 51 ft.*lbf }
INSTALL VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY
1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the vane pump oil reservoir assembly.
2. Install the vane pump oil reservoir assembly to the vane pump assembly with the 3 bolts.
  
  Torque:
  
  9.0 N*m { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }
INSTALL VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Install the vane pump oil reservoir cap sub-assembly to the vane pump oil reservoir assembly.
