INSTALL VACUUM PUMP BEARING
Using a press, press in a new vacuum pump bearing to the vacuum pump shaft.
INSTALL VACUUM PUMP SHAFT
Using SST and a press, press the vacuum pump shaft into the vacuum pump housing.
Using snap ring pliers, install a new snap ring.
Note
Make sure that the snap ring is firmly installed in the groove.
INSTALL VACUUM PUMP GEAR
Install the woodruff key and vacuum pump gear to the vacuum pump shaft with the gear lock nut.
Fix the vacuum pump gear in a vise between aluminum plates.
Note
Do not overtighten the vise.
Fully tighten the gear lock nut.
INSTALL VACUUM PUMP BLADE
Apply engine oil to the vacuum pump rotor.
Install the vacuum pump rotor to the vacuum pump shaft.
Apply engine oil to 5 new vacuum pump blades.
Install the 5 vacuum pump blades with the round end facing outward.
Note
Make sure that the vacuum pump blades are flush with the rotor surface.
Install the vacuum pump blades with round end touching the inner surface of the vacuum pump housing.
INSTALL VACUUM PUMP END COVER
Place the vacuum pump in a vise between aluminum plates.
Apply engine oil to 2 new O-rings.
Install the 2 O-rings.
Install the vacuum pump end cover and temporarily install the 3 bolts.
Using a 5 mm pin punch and hammer, tap in the 2 straight pins.
Fix the vacuum pump in a vise between aluminum plates.
Note
Do not overtighten the vise.
Fully tighten the 3 bolts.
INSTALL CHECK VALVE SUB-ASSEMBLY
Install a new gasket and the check valve.
INSTALL VACUUM PUMP UNION
Install 2 new gaskets and vacuum pump union with the union bolt.
Note
Check that the stopper of the vacuum pump union is securely held on the vacuum pump.
INSPECT VACUUM PUMP
Turn the vacuum pump gear counter-clockwise (left-hand turn, viewed from the gear side) and check for improper movement or torque change.
