OIL PUMP INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT FRONT OIL PUMP BODY SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BDA0

      Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the front oil pump body sub-assembly bush.

      Maximum diameter
      38.19 mm (1.50 in.)

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the front oil pump body sub-assembly.

  2. INSPECT STATOR SHAFT ASSEMBLY

    A01BH5B

    1. Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft assembly bush.

      Maximum diameter
      23.11 mm (0.910 in.) for front and rear side

      If the inside diameter is more than the maximum, replace the stator shaft assembly.

  3. INSPECT CLEARANCE OF FRONT OIL PUMP BODY


    1. A01BH4W

      Push the front oil pump driven gear to one side of the body.

    2. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.

      Standard body clearance
      0.07 to 0.15 mm (0.00276 to 0.00590 in.)
      Maximum body clearance
      0.3 mm (0.0118 in.)

      If the body clearance is more than the maximum, check the front oil pump drive gear, driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    3. A01BGOH

      Using a feeler gauge, measure the tip clearance between the front oil pump driven gear teeth and front oil pump drive gear teeth.

      Standard tip clearance
      0.11 to 0.14 mm (0.00433 to 0.00551 in.)
      Maximum tip clearance
      0.3 mm (0.0118 in.)

      If the tip clearance is more than the maximum, check the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.

    4. A01BFMM

      Using a straightedge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.

      Standard side clearance
      0.02 to 0.05 mm (0.000788 to 0.00196 in.)
      Maximum side clearance
      0.1 mm (0.00394 in.)

      If the side clearance is more than the maximum, check the front oil pump drive gear, front oil pump driven gear and front oil pump body sub-assembly.

      If necessary, replace the drive and driven gears with gears of a different thickness.

      Tech Tips

      There are 5 different thicknesses for the front oil pump drive gear and front oil pump driven gear.

  4. INSPECT OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION


    1. A01BFGJ

      Place the oil pump assembly on the torque converter assembly.

    2. Check that the drive gear rotates smoothly.

    3. Remove the oil pump assembly from the torque converter assembly.
