LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low and full level marks.

      If the oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

      Do not fill with engine oil above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning.

      Oil grade
      5W-30 and 10W-30
      API grade SL "Energy-Conserving", SM "Energy-Conserving", SN "Resource-Conserving" or ILSAC multigrade engine oil
      15W-40 and 20W-50
      API grade SL, SM or SN multigrade engine oil
  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. A01BFZOE01

      Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

    2. Remove the oil pressure switch.

    3. Install the oil pressure gauge.

    4. Warm up the engine.

    5. Measure the oil pressure.

      Standard
      Condition Specified Condition
      Idle

      29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or more

      3,000 rpm

      160 to 490 kPa (1.6 to 5.0 kgf/cm2, 23 to 71 psi) or more

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here

    6. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

    7. A01BCJ4E02

      Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

      Adhesive
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent
    8. Install the oil pressure switch.

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installation of the switch.

    9. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

    10. Start the engine and check for engine oil leaks.
