LUBRICATION SYSTEM (w/o DPF) ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. CHECK OIL QUALITY


    1. Check the oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloration or thinning.

      If the oil is visibly poor, replace the oil and oil filter.

  2. CHECK OIL LEVEL


    1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait for 5 minutes.

    2. Check that the oil level is between the upper level and lower level of the engine oil level dipstick.

      If the oil level is low, check for leakage and add oil up to the upper level of the oil level dipstick.

  3. CHECK OIL PRESSURE


    1. Remove the engine oil pressure switch.


      1. Disconnect the connector.

        Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

      Install the oil pressure gauge.

    3. Start and warm up the engine.

    4. Check the oil pressure.

      Standard
      Engine RPM Oil Pressure
      Idle

      29 kPa (0.3 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or higher

      3,000 rpm

      245 kPa (2.5 kgf/cm2, 33 psi) or higher

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    5. Remove the oil pressure gauge.

      Install the oil pressure switch.


      1. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads of the oil pressure switch.

        Adhesive
        Toyota Genuine Seal Packing Black, Three Bond 1207B or equivalent
      2. Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, install the oil pressure switch and wait at least 1 hour for the adhesive to dry.

        Torque:
        15 N*m  { 153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

        Note

        Do not start the engine for at least 1 hour after installation of the switch.

      3. Connect the oil pressure switch connector.

    7. Start the engine and check for engine oil leaks.
