TURBOCHARGER REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT

      Remove the drive belt by rotating the tensioner pulley clockwise to loosen its tension with the pulley set bolt of the tensioner.

  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

    CAUTION:

    Do not remove the radiator cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.


    1. Remove the radiator cap.

    2. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug and a cylinder block drain cock plug. Then drain the coolant.

  3. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER


    1. Roll up the carpet, and remove the engine service hole sub cover assembly.

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

  5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH

  6. REMOVE ENGINE SERVICE HOLE SUB COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Roll up the carpet, and remove the 5 bolts and engine service hole sub cover.

  7. REMOVE FENDER APRON MUDGUARD SEAL RH

  8. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 bolts and the 2 compression springs.

    2. Remove the hanger and the front exhaust pipe.

      Remove the gasket.

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 AIR CLEANER HOSE

      Pull the stopper upward and disconnect the No. 1 air cleaner hose from the compressor inlet elbow.

  10. REMOVE AIR TUBE ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 2 hose clamps, 2bolts, air tube assembly and No. 1 air cleaner hose.

  11. DISCONNECT TURBOCHARGER MOTOR CONNECTOR

      Disconnect the turbocharger motor connector.

  12. REMOVE COMPRESSOR ELBOW STAY

      Remove the 2 bolts and compressor elbow stay.

  13. REMOVE COMPRESSOR OUTLET ELBOW


    1. A01BFYF

      Remove the 2 hose clamps, bolt and compressor outlet elbow.

  14. SEPARATE COMPRESSOR AND MAGNETIC CLUTCH (w/ Air Conditioning System)


    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. A01BFJ0

      Remove the 4 bolts and compressor and magnetic clutch.

  15. REMOVE NO. 1 COMPRESSOR MOUNTING BRACKET (w/ Air Conditioning System)

      Remove the 4 bolts and compressor bracket.

  16. REMOVE VENTILATION PIPE

      Remove the bolt and ventilation pipe sub-assembly.

  17. REMOVE TURBO INSULATOR


    1. A01BEFA

      Remove the 2 bolts and turbo insulator.

  18. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 1 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  19. REMOVE TURBINE OUTLET ELBOW


    1. A01BE8V

      Remove the 3 nuts, turbine outlet elbow and gasket.

  20. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER STAY


    1. A01BCUS

      Remove the 2 bolts and nut to remove the turbocharger stay.

  21. REMOVE NO. 1 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE CLAMP (for Automatic Transmission)

      Remove the 2 bolts and clamp.

  22. REMOVE TURBO OIL INLET PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BCPXE01

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and union bolt, then remove the turbo oil inlet pipe sub-assembly and gasket.

      Note

      Do not loosen the nut labeled A, If mistakenly loosened, replace the turbocharger.

  23. DISCONNECT TURBOCHARGER STROKE SENSOR CONNECTOR


    1. A01BETM

      Disconnect the turbocharger stroke sensor connector.

  24. DISCONNECT TURBO WATER HOSE


    1. A01BC20

      Loosen the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 turbo water hoses.

  25. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER

      Remove the 3 nuts and separate the turbocharger.

    2. A01BARH

      Loosen the 2 clips and disconnect the 2 turbo water hoses.

    3. Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, No. 2 water by-pass pipe and gasket.

    4. Remove the turbocharger and gasket.

  26. REMOVE COMPRESSOR INLET ELBOW


    1. A01BHE6

      Remove the 2 nuts, compressor inlet elbow and gasket.

  27. REMOVE NO. 1 TURBO WATER PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BARR

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly and gasket.
