BACK DOOR GLASS INSTALLATION


  1. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS


    1. A01BAGQE02

      Using a scraper, remove the spacers, moulding and adhesive from the back door glass.

    2. Clean the outer edge of the back door glass with non-residue solvent.

      Note


      • Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.

      • Even if using new back door glass, clean the back door glass with non-residue solvent.

  2. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY

      Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.


      1. On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

        Note

        Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.

        Tech Tips

        Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.

  3. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP LH

      Apply Primer G to the glass where the clip will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      If primer G is applied to an area other than that which is specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.

      Note


      • Allow the Primer G to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover Primer G.

      • Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Install new clip onto the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS CLIP RH

      Apply Primer G to the glass where the clip will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      • Throw away any leftover Primer G.

      • Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Install a new clip onto the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS NO. 1 SPACER

      Apply Primer G to the glass where the spacers will be installed.

      Tech Tips

      • Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Install 2 new spacers onto the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

  6. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS NO. 2 SPACER

      Apply Primer G to the glass where the spacers will be installed.

      • Do not apply too much Primer G.

    2. Install 2 new spacers onto the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

  7. INSTALL BACK DOOR GLASS

      Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.

      Note


      • A01BEL1E02

        Allow the Primer M to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not apply Primer M to the adhesive.

      • Throw away any leftover Primer M.

      • Do not apply too much Primer M.

    2. Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the back door glass.

    3. Apply adhesive to the back door glass.

      Cut off the tip of cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

    5. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.

    6. Apply adhesive to the back door glass as shown in the illustration.

    7. Install the back door glass to the vehicle body.


      1. Lightly press the front surface of the back door glass to ensure that the back door glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Note


        • Check that the spacers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check that the vehicle body and back door glass have a small gap between them.

      2. Hold the back door glass in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle for the amount of time written in the table below.

  8. CHECK FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

  9. INSTALL EMERGENCY HAMMER CAUTION PLATE (w/ Emergency Hammer Caution Plate)


    1. Install the emergency hammer caution plate as shown in the illustration.

    2. Remove the peeling paper.

  10. INSTALL REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

      Install the grommet as shown in the illustration.

    2. A01BBR7E01

      Install the rear wiper motor with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }
    3. Install the clamp and connect the connector.

  11. INSTALL BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY UPPER


    1. A01BC10E01

      Engage the clips and install the back door trim board assembly upper.

  12. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 WIPER LINK PIVOT WASHER

      Install the rear No.1 wiper link pivot washer from the outside of the vehicle with the installation mark at the top.

    2. A01BCFP

      Using the socket wrench (27 mm), install the lock nut.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 120 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Do not damage the glass.

  13. INSTALL REAR WIPER SHAFT COVER

  14. INSTALL REAR WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY


    1. A01BEJEE03

      Operate the wiper, and stop the rear wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

    2. Clean the wiper arm serrations.

    3. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush (when reinstalling).

      Install the rear wiper arm and blade assembly with the nut at the position as shown in the illustration.

      Torque:
      9.8 N*m  { 100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Hold the arm hinge by hand to fasten the nut.

    5. Operate the rear wiper while spraying water or washer fluid on the windshield. Make sure that the wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.
