NOTE FOR CLEARANCE SONAR SYSTEM
Under the following conditions, the sensor of the clearance sonar may not operate properly.
Foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor (the detection function returns to normal if the foreign matter is cleared away).
The sensor is frozen (the detection function returns to normal if the sensor is defrosted).
Tech Tips
Especially in cold weather, a malfunction warning may be indicated and the sensor may not be able to detect any obstacles due to a frozen sensor etc.
The detection range of the clearance sonar may be affected by the following conditions.
Foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor.
In boiling weather or cold weather.
Under the following conditions, a clearance sonar may make error detection.
Something that generates ultrasonic wave, such as a horn of another vehicle, engine sound of a motorcycle, or air brake sound of a large-sized vehicle, approaches.
The vehicle gets caught in a downpour, or mud or water splashes the vehicle's body.
The vehicle is largely tilted.
The vehicle is equipped with a commercial fender pole or radio antenna.
Foreign matter such as snow or mud gets on the sensor.
A vehicle equipped with a sonar system is in the vicinity.
The vehicle is equipped with a towing hook.
The clearance sonar may detect the following objects.
Thin threadlike objects such as wire and rope.
Objects that easily absorb the ultrasonic wave such as cottons, snow, etc.
Objects with a sharp edge.
Short objects.
Tall objects with a projected upper part.
Other conditions
The sensor does not detect an object that is lying just under the bumper. Also, the sensor may suddenly be disabled to detect objects lying lower than the sensor or thin pickets even though the sensor once detects them.
The sensor may be unable to detect objects when the sensor gets too close to the objects.
The sensor may not operate properly if it is subjected to a strong impact. For example, the sensor is struck strongly or hit with an object, etc.
