METER / GAUGE SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT SPEEDOMETER


    1. Using a speedometer tester, check the speedometer indication according to the table below.

      Note

      Tire wear, as well as over or under inflation, will cause indication errors.

    2. Check the deviation from the acceptable value of the speedometer indication.

  2. INSPECT TACHOMETER


    1. Connect a tune-up test tachometer, and start the engine.

    2. Compare the test results and the tachometer indications.

      DC 13.5 V, at 25°C (77°F)

  3. INSPECT LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT


    1. Inspect the circuit.


      1. Disconnect the connector from the low oil pressure switch.

      2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

      3. Connect the terminal of the wire harness side connector and ground, then check the low oil pressure warning light.

        OK
        Low oil pressure warning light comes on.
  4. INSPECT ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT


    1. Gasoline engine


      1. Disconnect the connector from the engine oil level sensor.

      2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

        OK
        Engine oil level warning light comes on approximately 40 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON.
    2. Diesel engine


      1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

      2. Wait until the engine coolant temperature goes over 80°C (176°F)

      3. Turn the ignition switch off.

      4. Disconnect the connector from the engine oil level sensor.

      5. Turn the ignition switch ON.

        OK
        Engine oil level warning light comes on approximately 40 seconds after turning the ignition switch ON.
  5. INSPECT SEDIMENTER/FILTER WARNING LIGHT


    1. Disconnect the connector from the fuel sedimenter warning switch.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Ground the terminal of the wire harness side connector, then check the sedimenter/filter warning light.

      OK
      SEDIMENTER/FILTER warning light comes on when all of the conditions below are detected.

      Tech Tips


      • The ignition switch is ON.


      • Fuel filter warning switch detects a malfunction.


      • Accumulation running time is 30 minutes or more.

  6. INSPECT A/T SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT


    1. A01BDJ7E01

      Disconnect the connector from the park/neutral position switch.

    2. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    3. Ground the terminal of the wire harness side connector, then check the A/T shift position indicator light.

      OK
