WIPER SWITCH REMOVAL


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. INSPECT FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD (w/o AIRBAG)

      Remove the screw.

    2. Remove the steering pad.

    3. Disconnect the horn connector.

  4. REMOVE NO.2 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER (w/ AIRBAG)


    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.2 cover lower.

      Tech Tips

      Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  5. REMOVE NO.3 STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER (w/ AIRBAG)


    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the steering wheel No.3 cover lower.

      Tech Tips

      Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

  6. REMOVE STEERING PAD (w/ AIRBAG)

      Using a "torx" socket wrench (T30), loosen the 2 "torx" screws until the groove along the screw circumference catches on the screw case.

    2. Pull out the steering pad from the steering wheel assembly and support the steering pad with one hand.

    3. Disconnect the horn connector.

      Disconnect the connector and remove the steering pad.

      Note

      When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the steering wheel set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft assembly.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

  8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LOWER


    1. Set the steering tilt mechanism to the lowermost position.

      Remove the 2 "torx" screws from the steering column cover lower.

    3. A01BDY0E01

      Press on the left side of the steering column cover lower to disengage claw A.

    4. A01BBVA

      Press on the right side of the steering column cover lower to disengage claw B.

      Tech Tips

      If it is difficult to disengage claw B, enlarge the clearance downward on the left side of the steering column cover lower to disengage the claw.

      Twist the steering column cover lower by pulling it downward.

      Note

      Be sure to pull the steering column cover lower downward to prevent damage to the claw.

  9. REMOVE WIPER SWITCH


    1. A01BDJIE01

      Disconnect the connector.

    2. Disengage the claw and remove the wiper switch as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      If the claw is pushed with excessive force, it may be broken.

      Tech Tips

      Slide the steering column cover upper upward to remove the wiper switch.
