After engine is warmed up, condition (a) continues for more than 10 seconds at idling:

(2 trip detection logic)

(a) Mass air flow meter output more than 2.2 V

Conditions (a) and (b) continue for more than 6 seconds with engine speed at 2,000 rpm or more:

(2 trip detection logic)

(a) VTA more than 0.1 V

(b) Mass air flow meter output less than 0.25 V

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using an intelligent tester. Freeze frame data record the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was lean or rich, and other data, from the time the malfunction occurred.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ANY OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0101)


    1. Connect an intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester ON.

    3. Select the following menu items: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.

    4. Read DTCs.

      Tech Tips

      If any DTCs other than P0101 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.
