Tech Tips

Inspect these items on a cooled down engine.


  1. INSPECT SPARK PLUGS

  2. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER (for Panel Type)


    1. Remove the air filter.

    2. Visually check that the air filter is not excessively damaged, dirt or oily.

    3. Clean the filter with compressed air.

      First blow from the inside thoroughly, and then blow from the outside of the filter.

    4. Reinstall the air filter.

  3. INSPECT AIR CLEANER FILTER (for Cylinder Type)

    Note

    Wear a respirator when cleaning the air cleaner filter with compressed air.


    1. Remove the air filter.

    2. Visually check that the air filter is not excessively damaged, dirty or oily.

    3. Clean the filter with compressed air.

      First blow from the inside thoroughly, and then blow from the outside of the filter.

    4. Submerge the air filter in water and move it up and down 10 times or more. (*1)

    5. Empty the container and fill it with clean water. (*2)

    6. Repeat steps (*1) and (*2) until the water remains clean.

    7. Remove excess moisture using compressed air or by shaking the air filter. Do not drop or strike the air filter.

    8. Reinstall the air filter.

  4. REPLACE AIR CLEANER FILTER


    1. Replace the air filter with a new one.

  5. REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER

  6. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT

  7. INSPECT GASKET IN FUEL TANK CAP

  8. INSPECT FUEL LINES AND CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS


    1. Visually check the fuel lines for cracks, leakage, loose connections, deformation or tank band looseness.

  9. INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS


    1. Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.

  10. INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE
