MASS AIR FLOW METER INSPECTION

  1. INSPECT INTAKE MASS AIR FLOW METER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. A01BHN0E02

      Check the output voltage.

      1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 (+B) and 2 (E2G).

        Note

While using the battery during inspection, do not bring the positive and negative tester probes too close to each other as a short circuit may occur.

      2. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 3 (VG) and the negative (-) tester probe to terminal 2 (E2G).

      3. Blow air into the mass air flow meter, then check that the voltage fluctuates.

If the voltage does not fluctuate, replace the mass air flow meter.

    2. A01BDI4E02

      Check the resistance.

      1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

        Standard resistance
        Tester Connection Specified Condition
        4 (THA) - 5 (E2) 12.5 to16.9 kΩ at -20°C (-4°F)
        4 (THA) - 5 (E2) 2.19 to 2.67 kΩ at 20°C (68°F)
        4 (THA) - 5 (E2) 0.50 to 0.68 kΩ at 60°C (140°F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the mass air flow meter.
