INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT

    (to Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor)


    1. Disconnect the W2 connector with engine coolant temperature sensor.

    2. Check the meter needle conditions.

      OK
      Wire connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Short circuit (Ignition Switch ON) The needle indicates above "H"
      All the lines are disconnected Open circuit (Ignition Switch ON) The needle indicates below "C"
    3. Reconnect the connector.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR - ECM)

    1. Disconnect the W2 engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

    2. Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Specified condition
      W2-2 - THW (E6-19) Below 1 Ω
      W2-1 - E2 (E6-28) Below 1 Ω
      W2-2 or THW (E6-19) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      W2-1 or E2 (E6-28) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the connectors.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY)

    1. Disconnect the C13 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the E7 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Specified condition
      C13-18 - THWO (E7-2) Below 1 Ω
      C13-18 or THWO (E7-2) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the connectors.
