AIRBAG ECU REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read the "Precaution" section thoroughly before performing the operation Click here.

  2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for RHD)

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for LHD)

  5. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    1. Remove the 2 screws and steering column cover UPR.

  6. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    1. Remove the clip, 2 screws and steering column cover LWR.

  7. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN TUBE

    1. Turn back the floor carpet until the bolts securing the lower steering column tube can be seen.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the lower steering column tube from the body.

  8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 4 bolts, and disconnect the lower steering column from the steering column tube. Then tilt the lower steering column towards the rear of the vehicle.

  9. REMOVE NO.1 AIR DUCT

    1. Remove the 2 clips and No. 1 air duct.

  10. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN TUBE ASSEMBLY

    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and lower steering column tube assembly.

  11. REMOVE AIRBAG SENSOR COVER

    1. Detach the 2 claws and remove the airbag sensor cover from the pedal bracket.

  12. REMOVE AIRBAG ECU ASSEMBLY

    *1 Lock Lever

    1. Turn the ignition switch off.

    2. Check that the cable has been disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    3. Release the lock of the ECU connector and disconnect the connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Remove the 3 bolts and airbag ECU assembly from the pedal bracket.
