AIRBAG SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. DESCRIPTION OF SRS

    1. General description

      1. The SRS is designed to reduce injuries to the driver in the event of a frontal collision.

      2. The system uses two G sensors, one is in the airbag ECU and the other is in the No. 2 airbag sensor assembly, to detect each deceleration rates.

      3. The airbag ECU assembly receives signals from the G sensors to determine whether or not to deploy the driver airbag and driver side front seat belt pretensioner.

      4. The airbag ECU assembly controls the whole SRS and is constantly monitoring the system to confirm whether it is sound.

      5. The SRS warning light in the combination meter assembly is used to indicate SRS abnormalities based on signals sent from the airbag ECU assembly.

  2. CONDITIONS FOR DEPLOYMENT

    1. In the case of a frontal collision

      1. The airbag ECU assembly performs calculations based on the values of signals sent by the G sensors.

      2. If the results of the calculations exceed the specified values, the airbag ECU assembly sends signals to deploy the SRS parts.
