PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY DISASSEMBLY


  1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY REAR


  2. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Pull the parking brake lever full distance.

    2. Using a SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

      Using socket wrench 32 mm, remove the nut.

    4. Remove the drum.

      Tech Tips

      If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster clockwise until the drum turns freely.

  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

    1. Using SST, remove the 2 return springs on the upper side.

  4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

    1. Using SST, remove the return spring on the lower side.

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE

    1. Using SST, remove the shoe hold-down springs and pins.

      Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable from the shoe lever.

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTER SUB-ASSEMBLY RH OR CENTER

  7. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the 2 C-washers and disassemble the shoe and lever.

      At the time of installation, use 2 new C-washers.
