PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Wheel Parking Brake) REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER HOLE COVER

  4. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

    2. Fix the adjusting nut and loosen the lock nut.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts.

    4. Disconnect the parking brake cable No.1, and remove the parking brake lever.

  6. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (A/T TRANSMISSION)

  7. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT (M/T TRANSMISSION)

  8. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT (M/T TRANSMISSION)

  9. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.1

    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the parking brake cable No.1 from floor panel.

    2. Remove the clip and hole pin, and disconnect the parking brake cable No.1 from parking brake equalizer.

    3. Remove the clamp, clips and parking brake cable No.1.

  10. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  11. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM

    Tech Tips

    If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, do the following steps.


    1. Insert a screwdriver through the hole in the backing plate, and hold the automatic adjusting lever away from the adjusting bolt.

    2. Using another screwdriver, reduce the brake shoe adjustment by turning the adjusting bolt.

  12. REMOVE FRONT BRAKE SHOE

    1. Using SST, disconnect the return spring.

      Using SST, remove the shoe hold-down spring, cups and pin.

    3. Disconnect the anchor spring from the front brake shoe and remove the front brake shoe.

    4. Remove the anchor spring from the rear brake shoe.

    5. Remove the return spring and adjuster from the rear shoe.

  13. REMOVE REAR BRAKE SHOE

    1. Using SST, remove the shoe hold-down spring, cups and pin.

    2. Using pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable from the lever and remove the rear brake shoe.

  14. REMOVE STRUT SET,PARKING BRAKE SHOE,LH

  15. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.3


    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the parking brake cable No.3 from rear brake shoe back plate.

    2. Remove the clip and hole pin, disconnect the cable No.3 from parking brake equalizer.

    3. Remove the clamp, clips and parking brake cable No.3.
