PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Center Parking Brake) REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY REAR


  2. REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE SHIFTING HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER HOLE COVER

  5. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

    2. Fix the adjusting nut and loosen the lock nut.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts.

    4. Disconnect the parking brake cable No.1, and remove the parking brake lever.

  7. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (A/T TRANSMISSION)

  8. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT (M/T TRANSMISSION)

  9. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SELECT (M/T TRANSMISSION)

  10. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.1

    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the parking brake cable No.1 from floor panel.

    2. Disconnect the parking brake cable No.1 and No.2.

    3. Remove the clamp, clips and parking brake cable No.1.

  11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Pull the parking brake lever full distance.

    2. Using a SST and a hammer, loosen the staked part of the nut.

      Using socket wrench 32 mm, remove the nut.

    4. Remove the drum.

      Tech Tips

      If the brake drum cannot be removed easily, turn the shoe adjuster clockwise until the drum turns freely.

  12. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

    1. Using SST, remove the 2 return springs on the upper side.

  13. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN TENSION SPRING

    1. Using SST, remove the return spring on the lower side.

  14. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE

    1. Using SST, remove the shoe hold-down springs and pins.

      Using needle-nose pliers, disconnect the parking brake cable from the shoe lever.

  15. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY NO.2


    1. Remove the bolt and clamp from parking brake shoe back plate.

    2. Remove the E-ring, and disconnect the parking brake cable No.2 from backing plate.

    3. Remove the dust seal and collar from cable.

    4. Disconnect parking brake cable No.2 and No.1.

    5. Remove the clamp, clips and parking brake cable No.2.
