REAR BRAKE (for 2 Leading Shoe Type) REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL REAR WHEEL CYLINDER CUP KIT

    1. Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease to new 2 wheel cylinder cups and the 2 pistons.

    2. Install the 2 wheel cylinder cups to each wheel cylinder piston. (w/ Automatic adjuster)

    3. Install the 2 spring seat to the compression spring. (w/o Automatic adjuster)

    4. Install 2 new wheel cylinder cups to the spring seats.

    5. Install the wheel cylinder cups spring seats to the wheel cylinder.

    6. Install the wheel cylinder pistons.

    7. Install the 2 wheel cylinder boots.

    8. Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease to new adjust nut dust seal and new adjust nut seat. (w/ Automatic adjuster)

    9. Install the adjusting nut seat. (w/ Automatic adjuster)

    10. Install the adjusting nut dust seal. (w/ Automatic adjuster)

    11. Apply the lithium soap base glycol grease to the adjusting bolt and nut.

      Install the adjusting bolt and nut. (w/ Automatic adjuster)

      Tech Tips

      There are 2 kinds of adjusting nuts and bolts.

      Make sure that each location has its correct adjusting nuts and bolts.


      • RH wheel (R mark) - Right-hand threads

      • LH wheel (L mark) - Left-hand threads

      Install the adjusting bolt and nut. (w/o Auto Adjuster)

      Tech Tips

      There are 2 kinds of adjusting nuts and bolts.

      Make sure that each location has its correct adjusting nuts and bolts.


      • RH wheel (R mark) - Left-hand threads

      • LH wheel (L mark) - Right-hand threads

    14. Install the adjusting support spring with the screw.

  2. INSTALL LH, FRONT OR UPPER REAR WHEEL BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the wheel cylinder with the bolts.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL LH, REAR OR LOWER REAR WHEEL BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the wheel cylinder with the bolts.

      Torque:
      24 N*m  { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

    2. Using union nut wrench 10 mm, connect the brake lines to each wheel cylinder.

      Torque:
      15 N*m  { 155 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf }

    3. Install the brake tube clamp.

  4. INSTALL BRAKE SHOES (w/o Auto adjuster Type)

    1. Apply high temperature grease to the brake shoe contact surfaces, as shown in the illustration.

    2. Hook the return spring to the brake shoes front inner side.

    3. Extending the brake shoes, install them to the specified positions of the cylinder piston side and adjusting bolt side.

      Using SST, install the cups, hold-down springs and pins.

      Using SST, install the outer side return spring.

  5. INSTALL BRAKE SHOES (w/ Auto adjuster Type)

    1. Apply high temperature grease to the brake shoe contact surfaces, as shown in the illustration.

    2. Using SST, install the both side brake shoe with the cups, hold-down springs and pins.

    3. Using SST, install the 2 return springs.

  6. CHECK REAR DRUM BRAKE INSTALLATION


    1. Check that each part is installed properly.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease adhering to the friction surfaces of the shoe lining and drum.
