REAR BRAKE (for Leading Trailing Shoe Type) INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL REAR BRAKE DRUM

  2. INSPECT REAR DRUM BRAKE SHOE CLEARANCE


    1. Remove the hole plug, and turn the adjuster and expand the shoe until the drum locks.

    2. Return the adjuster 15 notches.

    3. Install the hole plug.

  3. FILL RESERVOIR WITH BRAKE FLUID

    A01KFRF
    Fluid
    SAE J1703 or FMVSS No. 116 DOT3
  4. BLEED MASTER CYLINDER

    A01KECL

    Tech Tips

    If the master cylinder has been disassembled or if the reservoir becomes empty, bleed the air from the master cylinder.


    1. Disconnect the brake lines from the master cylinder.

    2. Slowly depress the brake pedal and hold it.

    3. A01KFNA

      Block off the outer holes with your fingers, and release the brake pedal.

    4. Repeat (b) and (c) 3 or 4 times.

  5. BLEED BRAKE LINE


    1. Connect the vinyl tube to the brake caliper.

    2. Depress the brake pedal several times, then loosen the bleeder plug with the pedal held down.

    3. At the point when fluid stops coming out, tighten the bleeder plug, then release the brake pedal.

    4. Repeat (b) and (c) until all the air in the fluid has been bled out.

    5. Repeat the above procedure to bleed the air out of the brake line for each wheel.

      Torque:
      11 N*m  { 110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf }
  6. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR

  7. CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE

  8. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  9. INSPECT AND ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
