      Independent Front Suspension:
      New Belt 6 - 8 mm (0.24 - 0.32 in.)
      Used Belt 8 - 12 mm (0.32 - 0.47 in.)
      Rigid Front Suspension:
      New Belt 8 - 10 mm (0.32 - 0.40 in.)
      Used Belt 10 - 14 mm (0.40 - 0.55 in.)

      Tech Tips

      • "New belt" refers to a belt which has been less than 5 minutes on a running engine.

      • "Used belt" refers to a belt which has been used on a running engine for 5 minutes or more.

      • Reference:

Using a belt tension gauge, check the drive belt tension

        Independent Front Suspension:
        Drive belt tension
        New Belt 539 - 637 N (55 - 65 kgf)
        Used Belt 245 - 392 N (25 - 40 kgf)
        Rigid Front Suspension:
        Drive belt tension
        New Belt 441 - 637 N (45 - 55 kgf)
        Used Belt 196 - 343 N (20 - 35 kgf)
    3. Tighten the nut.

      Torque:
      72 N*m  { 734 kgf*cm, 53 ft.*lbf }
  4. CONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE ASSEMBLY

    1. Connect the pressure feed tube assembly with the union bolt and a new gasket.

      Torque:
      66 N*m  { 673 kgf*cm, 49 ft.*lbf }
  5. CONNECT OIL RESERVOIR TO PUMP HOSE NO.1

    1. Connect the oil reservoir to pump hose No.1.

    2. Install the clip.

  6. ADD POWER STEERING FLUID

  7. BLEED POWER STEERING FLUID

    1. Check the fluid level.

    2. Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with stands.

    3. Turn the steering wheel.

      1. With the engine stopped, turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.

    4. Lower the vehicle.

    5. Start the engine.

      1. Run the engine at idle for a few minutes.

    6. Turn the steering wheel.

      1. With the engine idling, turn the wheel to the left or right full lock position and keep it there for 2 - 3 seconds. Then turn the wheel to the opposite full lock position and keep it there for 2 - 3 seconds (step A).

      Check for foaming or emulsification.

Especially, if the system has to be bled twice because of foaming or emulsification, check for fluid leakage in the system.

    9. Check the fluid level.

  8. INSPECT FLUID LEAK

  9. INSTALL ENGINE SIDE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY LH
