2KD-FTV VANE PUMP REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT BEARING


    1. Using a snap ring expander, install a new snap ring to the shaft.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the shaft.

    2. Coat a new bearing with power steering fluid.

      Using a press, install the bearing to the shaft.

  2. INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING OIL SEAL

    1. Coat a new oil seal lip with power steering fluid.

    2. Using SST and a press, install the oil seal to the pump housing front.

      SST

      Drive in depth
      3.4 mm (0.134 in.)

  3. INSTALL VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE FRONT

    *a Inscribed mark

    1. Coat 2 O-rings with power steering fluid and install them to the side plate front.

    2. Align the hole of the side plate front and longer straight pin.

      Note

      Make sure to install the side plate front facing the correct direction.

  4. INSTALL VANE PUMP CAM RING


    1. Align the holes of the cam ring and straight pins, and install the cam ring with the inscribed mark facing outward.

  5. INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR


    1. Install the rotor with the inscribed marks facing outward.

    2. Coat 10 vane plates with power steering fluid.

      Install the vane plates with the round end facing outward.

  6. INSTALL VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE REAR

    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the side plate rear.

    2. Align the holes of the side plate rear and straight pins.

      Install the wave washer so that its protrusions fit into the slots in the side plate rear.

  7. INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING REAR

    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the pump housing rear.

    2. Install the pump housing rear to the pump housing front.

    3. Using a press, apply just enough pressure to compress the wave washer, and install a new snap ring to the pump housing front.

  8. MEASURE PS VANE PUMP ROTATION TORQUE

    *1 Service Bolt

    1. Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.

    2. Temporarily install the service bolt.

      Recommended service bolt
      Thread diameter
      10 mm (0.394 in.)
      Thread pitch
      1.25 mm (0.0492 in.)
      Bolt length
      50 mm (1.9685 in.)

    3. Using a torque wrench, check the pump rotating torque.

      Torque:
      Rotating torque
      0.27 N*m  { 2.8 kgf*cm, 2.4 in.*lbf, or less }

  9. INSTALL PRESSURE PORT UNION


    1. Coat the flow control valve compression spring with power steering fluid and install it.

    2. Coat the flow control valve with power steering fluid and install it.

    3. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the pressure port union.

    4. Install the pressure port union.

      Torque:
      69 N*m  { 700 kgf*cm, 51 ft.*lbf }

  10. INSTALL POWER STEERING SUCTION PORT UNION


    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the suction port union.

    2. Install the suction port union with the bolt.

      Torque:
      13 N*m  { 130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }
