ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C0278/11, C0279/12

DTC Code DTC Name
C0278/11 Open in ABS Solenoid Relay Circuit
C0279/12 Short to B+ in ABS Solenoid Relay Circuit

DESCRIPTION

This relay supplies power to each ABS solenoid. After the ignition switch is turned ON, if the initial check is OK, the relay goes on.

DTC No. DTC Detecting Condition Trouble Area
C0278/11

Conditions of 1 or 2 continue for 0.2 seconds or more.

  1. ECU IG1 terminal voltage is 9.5 V to 18.5 V, the solenoid relay is ON and the condition that the solenoid relay contact is OFF.

  2. By driving with the solenoid relay ON, ECU IG1 terminal voltage becomes less than 9.5 V and the solenoid relay contact does not become ON condition.

  • ABS solenoid relay

  • ABS solenoid relay circuit

  • Battery

C0279/12 Immediately after ECU IG1 terminal becomes ON, when the solenoid relay is OFF, and when the condition that the solenoid relay contact is ON has been continued for 0.2 seconds or more.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Tech Tips

Start the inspection from step 1 in case of using the intelligent tester and start from step 2 in case of not using the intelligent tester.

PROCEDURE

  1. DO ACTIVE TEST OF INTELLIGENT TESTER (ABS SOLENOID RELAY OPERATION)

    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the intelligent tester.

    2. Check the operation sound of the ABS solenoid relay when operating it with the intelligent tester.

      OK
The operation sound of the ABS solenoid relay should be heard.
