FRONT BRAKE INSPECTION

  1. INSPECT BRAKE CYLINDER AND PISTON

    1. Check the cylinder bore and piston for rust or scoring.

  2. MEASURE PAD LINING THICKNESS

    1. Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.

      Standard thickness
      10 mm (0.394 in.)
      Minimum thickness
      3.0 mm (0.118 in.)
  3. MEASURE DISC THICKNESS

    1. Using a micrometer, measure the disc thickness.

      RFS
      Standard thickness
      25.0 mm (0.984 in.)
      Minimum thickness
      23.0 mm (0.906 in.)
      IFS
      Standard thickness
      28.0 mm (1.102 in.)
      Minimum thickness
      26.0 mm (1.024 in.)
  4. MEASURE DISC RUNOUT

    A01KIH8

    1. Using a dial indicator, measure the disc runout 10 mm (0.39 in.) away from the outer edge of the disc.

      Maximum disc runout
      0.12 mm (0.0047 in.)
    2. If the discs runout is maximum value or greater, check the bearing play in the axial direction and check the axle hub runout (See page RFS: Click here, IFS: Click here). If the bearing play and axle hub runout are not abnormal, replace the disc.

  5. REPLACE FRONT DISC
